Dropshipdesign.com Review - Is it a scam? Anyone used Dropship Design?

I have been selling on eBay for quite sometime. Recently, somebody advised me to use dropship design in order to increase my profits. Has anybody used its services? Any reviews on Dropshipdesign?

Never tried them myself. Dropshipdesign is a known drop shipping aggregator but I’ve heard that their services are not satisfactory. The variety is good but prices are quite high. You will struggle to make any money from their service.

I purchased the auction package of dropshipdesign in 2008. Once my membership expired, I did not bother to renew it. In my opinion, Dropship design is a poor service provider and a borderline scam. They show you example eBay listings before signing up, but after a couple of days you realize that the eBay listings have been submitted by their users, none of the listings have sold, and the same items can be found much cheaper by modifying the eBay search term.

I also noticed they have been showing the same testimonials for the past 3 years, where there is even someone claiming to have sold $50,000 of xboxes. Obviously they made up that testimonial, and they have been changing the date of that testimonial ever since they opened their doors.

In my opinion it is not a company that can be trusted, other issues include:

      1. They charge $100 to offer telephone support

      2. They are known to show an enticing deal on their home page, but when you investigate further it is either sold out or it is selling at far cheaper prices on eBay (try searching the same product using a shorter version of the product name, for example search for the product code only, or the short version of the product name). You can check if a product has sold by visiting the individual auction listing, where you will see either an x Sold or Winning Bid in the auction details).

      3. You may have been able to make money from them back in 2006, but today it's a different story. The margin after eBay and PayPal fees will be at best a couple of dollars, at worst a significant loss.

      4. They mark up the prices that dropshippers charge, so I am now better off going to the dropshipper directly and placing my order there.

      5. Their delivery times are too long (5-7 days + shipping time). They take a couple of days to process the order, and then the dropshipper has to process the order at their end.

      6. They ask for extra money at every opportunity. If the website they have provided has bugs, you have to pay to get it fixed, or pay extra for a new template.

      7. They withold your domain name if you cancel the package, so that if you have invested in building up links for your site you will lose all those efforts.

      8. Their main dropshippers are http://www.xsdepot.com/ and http://www.dollardays.com/, you can find the other ones easily.

      9. They now seem to have a hidden $29.99 / month charge on top of the $199.99 they are charging.

In essence my opinion is that dropshipdesign is a nightmare.

Sometime back, I had tried the website package from dropshipdesign.com. After, spending around $300, I felt it is not worth spending time and money on this firm. They do not have clear policies. There are a lot of hidden fees. For everything you have to pay extra, whether it is delivering the items to your customers or contacting the firm through phone.

Competition is tough on eBay. If you want to make money on ebay, you have to offer products at the cheapest rates. But, dropship design’s products are quite expensive.

In my opinion, most people are skeptical using dropshipdesign because it does not offer a free trial option. If you cancel your membership, your fee is not refunded.

I have been researching the reviews on dropshipdesign for quite some time. Most people have rated this firm below average. Moreover, this firm is not registered with BBB, but has received 59 complaints and failed to respond to 2 of them.

BBB has given them an F rating. Refer to DropshipDesign.com | BBB Review | Seattle, WA for more information.

eBay sellers should buy products directly from wholesalers and manufacturers. Most drop shippers buy products from wholesalers and therefore you cannot expect to make huge profits if you sell on ebay using a drop shipper.

Excellent point. One should look for drop shipping services directly from wholesalers rather than finding a drop shipper who buys from wholesalers. You are selling on ebay to make profits; so look for a firm which offers products and shipping services at the least rates.

To make the most of a drop shipping firm, you need to put in some extra efforts. You have to find the products for which the demand is high and prices are low.

Drop shipping will not just work for any product, the same rules of business apply to drop shipping too. Some sellers seem to forget this, they assume that because they are not holding stock they can sell at a profit anything and everything that is drop shipped.

Selecting the right products from your drop shipper is just as important as selecting the right products to buy wholesale. I have seen many sellers underestimate this aspect, just because they had no risk involved in holding stock.
