What's the most profitable business in your opinion???

I believe itís food because everybody needs it to live, everything else is just a need. Think about it, you donít have to buy clothes, you can make them, you donít need electronics, they are a luxuryÖ

Housing is out of the door in this country, for now anyway. Unless you’re buying property to rent out, where there is always a demand since plenty of young people find it hard to climb up the property ladder with the recession in its current state.

Housing is still the best investment over timeÖ Bust is always followed by boom, especially in the real estate market.

I have always believed that a profitable business isnít determined by the industry, itís determined by the individual or group of people behind that business. Itís people that make money not the other way around.

Yep, because the profitability of a product is determined by the the human raceÖ Following that logic, water is the most profitable necessity and everything else doesnít matter Ö lol.

Accounting Services are one of the most profitable businesses in America today. Their average pre-tax profit is 25%. This industry includes services like bookkeeping, designing accounting systems, payroll billing and preparing financial statements and tax returns. The economy may be bad, but people do still have jobs, and those jobs need accountants and bookkeepers. Wholesale and drop shipping companies especially, because of the international aspect of it. The food and beverage industries have always had notoriously low profit margins.

A lot of their services are outsourced to India today, which is the main reason they can remain so profitable. Check Elance.com or LivePerson.com to see if you can find India based companies who can reduce your accounting costs. Although watch our for compliance.

The most profitable businesses are those that are in highest demand and where supply is scarce or limited by barriers like location, barriers to entry (think market segments with a limited number of licenses, also those that have a high start up cost), connections.

High Level of Demand + High Level of Supply = limited profit potential

High Level of Demand + Low Level of Supply (again due to scarcity or barriers) = highest profit potential but rarely occurs. Unlikely to be sustainable unless you have a monopoly on the market.

Low Level of Demand + High Level of Supply = worst scenario

Low Level of Demand + Low Level of Supply = has a lot of potential if you choose your niche well (Ferrari, Rolls Royce, etc are all doing pretty well)

I think the most profitable is the hi-tech products, like iphone, ipad after they are launched into the market, they have been enjoying the great profit.
