Wholesale companies want to make sure you are a legally legit trader/company.

      Wholesale companies generally ask for:

      Company name
Type of business (sole proprietorship, partnership, etc)
      State tax ID
      Federal EIN/tax ID
      Bank info
      References

Not every wholesaler is going to ask for references though. References can be from your bank and/or other suppliers you have worked with or have an account open at.

A wholesale company in the US is going to check for any complaints against you; i.e. outstanding payment to another wholesaler.

What makes some wholesale companies ask for references while others do not ask? Does it mean one is more trusted than the other is?

What if I don’t have any past wholesalers to give me a reference?

The size of a wholesaler makes a difference in what they ask for sometimes; at other times, its what they sell or how much you are buying.

As long as you have your business license, proper bank information and everything matches with your tax information, you should be able to get by without having supplier references.

The bank where you have your business account, can write you a letter reference as well.

Just because a wholesaler asks for references, doesnt mean they are a trustworthy source.

Wholesale companies want the name on the bank account and tax identification to match up as well.

OK I have all my tax id, bank info and company information; so, hopefully that will be enough to approach a wholesaler. Appreciate the help!
