UK Rare Books Suppliers - Old Antiquarian Book Wholesale

I have noticed there is good market potential for Antiquarian/Rare Books. Does anyone have referrals for rare book suppliers? In the places I have found some rare books, there is quite a variance in pricing; I need a few more suppliers so I can make sure my buy-price is adjusted properly.

I’m in Scotland and would like a supplier or wholesaler in the UK if you are familiar with any.

I’m in the UK as well and I have done quite a bit of book selling in my day. When I look at the rare book market place I see lately that many out-of-print and hard-to-find genealogy and history books are being republished, so it's not unusual to find a wide range of prices between a reprint and the original.

Naturally, first-editions will be valued higher, so be sure what you are buying

I can tell you that these three sources are pretty dependable and have extensive supply sources. At the very least, they approachable, decent people and will point you in the right direction.

      2. Chris’s Books- Wholesale Books
      3. Bertram’s Books

Dealing in rare books will put you in touch with quite a few characters, lol, enjoy and good luck.

Very interesting, what are some things I should consider when measuring the value of a rare book?

Well, there’s a pretty good website called Faded Giant, Rare Book Price Guide Search - Fadedgiant.net Online Rare Book Price Guide , where you can input the author name and book title. It is a pricing guide so you can more accurately determine the sale price of your rare book.

But basically, the value of a particular copy of any given book will be affected by many factors:
      • its condition
      • its binding
      • its provenance
      • the significance of any inscriptions it may contain including letters and signatures of well-known people.
