How to find a reliable web host - Website Hosting Companies

Sort of new to this ecommerce deal. Ive started reading up on it, and pretty much understand what I need in terms of the site, but Ive hit a bit of a road block. Without experience with such things, Im uncomfortable with my ability to pick a reliable web host. I need some tips on sifting the wheat from the chaff.

It’s good you understand what features you need in a site, you’re several steps ahead of most folks. There are a few points to consider. A good, affordable webhost is the best present you can give yourself.

      ● Research reviews and check out the services of the top web hosting providers. Here’s the top five I’ve found to show up on the most host lists, in no particular order--

InMotion-- Host dedicated to having a small carbon footprint. Free domain name, excellent customer support, choice of data center, unlimited space and traffic with a 90 day money back guarantee.

Yahoo! Small Business-- Free domain/setup, unlimited storage and bandwidth, 30 day money back.

Host Gator-- Free domain/setup, unlimited space/traffic, unlimited domains, free shopping cart software, 45 day money back.

SuperGreen Hosting-- Ethical “green” hosting. Free setup, etc, as with the rest of the hosts in the list.

Blue Host-- Among the easiest hosts to deal with. Pretty much the same front-page offers as the rest of the list.

On the surface, most of these hosts offer the same basic stuff. You definitely need to make sure low prices aren’t just introductory offers. Costs can skyrocket after a three month period (or so) if it is just introductory. Since you’re asking about webhosts, I’m assuming you’re not an IT professional, so I’d say a control panel or Cpanel is a definite necessity. This will give you the ability to change your site, handle orders, manage files, etc without dealing with an intimidating interface.

Keep in mind also that this list is not exhaustive, it’s just to get you going. I didn’t list prices because they have a habit of changing.

Narrow your choices down to the top three that really stand out. You want specifically to look out for--

      1. Cpanel access
      2. Ease of installation
      3. Availability of support (I like my host to have telephone, email, and chat-based support)
      4. Does the host provide built-in marketing and promotion? A lot of hosts offer free or discounted Google Ads for a certain level of customer.
      5. Instructions/Guides/How-Tos provided to customers. If you don’t want to shell out for classes on web-design, your host should provide at least a rundown of the basics.

You’ll still likely run into more than one site that makes the cut. Once you’ve narrowed it down to a couple/few webhosts, go with the host you’ve had the best experience with so far. Price should, ideally, be the secondary concern.

Given that youre building a business site, youll want to make absolutely certain that you have unlimited bandwidth. If youre as successful as Im sure you wanna be, youll wrack up the hits quickly, and nothing is more frustrating than getting a massive overage bill from your host. Dont be a victim of your own success .

Recommendations are probably the best way to make the best choice.

I use HUK Hosting, reliable UK Host provider as they are based in the UK and believe it or not it does give you an advantage in the search engine results.

It really is hard to pick the appropriate web hosting service you are going to subscribe to as you would want to maximize what you subscribe for.

I mean, you would want to subscribe on a plan that you can maximize so you could save on it rather than waste the extra power you never really consume.

You can even go with free web hosts as they can offer a pretty good service as well, other than those which charge a good sum.

I run a dynamic internet web hosting company. We are keen to grow our business by helping others grow theirs. We might be the cheapest around But that does not mean you will receive inferior service. If you would like chapter and verse on all our web related services including shopping carts and webdesign, please feel free to let us know and we will be delighted to oblige.

I use Prostores and iPage. I prefer Prostores. The most important thing is are you proficient in building a website. Or, even if you are, do you have the time to constantly update your site whenever you need to make a product change, price change, etc. Some sites will let you test them out first as did iPage when before I chose them.
