      That’s what I was worried about. I didn’t want to use a domain name that was just a few letters off from the competition.

      Using a similar domain name is easier and you might be able to pick up on some of your competitions web traffic, but it could work against you, too.

      I agree with McJennings in saying that individuality (using a brand and company focus) in a domain name is better for the long term.

      Long v short is a personal decision. Certainly buyit.com is short and memorable, but thats probably taken. You have to be creative.

      Sometimes using a phrase like savemoneyeasy.com (probably taken too) helps.

      Research whichever industry you are doing business in and it will help you find a domain name.

      Its going to take a long list of domain names before you find the right one (and the one that is still available)
