Fully Functional eCommerce Website - Need Advice on Online Webstore Designing & Hosting

      Hi guys,

I need advice, I have been selling on eBay for the last year and I am focusing on a specific area of sports and fitness equipment.

I really want to try and steer away from eBay due to fees, and have recently started on Facebook with good results. I have received a lot of enquiries through Facebook, but when they ask if I have a website and I say no, they are no longer interested. I also want to design a website, so I can add it to my posters and business cards.

I am a complete beginner with the running of websites and have been researching for some time, but have yet to take the first steps. As always, I have second thoughts, thinking there will be no traffic. I will be constantly contacting the customer service because I have no clue what to do and I will end up wasting the money. I think this is just me being too careful and now I need to be a bit more risk taking as I will never know things until I try.

I basically need a user friendly eCommerce site, simple to use, good designs and templates, ability to add plug-ins and a good reliable hosting service.

I have been looking at eSources as a free eCommerce site is included in the yearly membership. Please let me know your feedback.

      Thanks guys.

I think that first of all you need to do some savings to achieve a higher investment budget (over 5000$).

Afterwards, you can start slowly and precisely. Don't spend too much in designs, plug-ins and similar.

Start with a simple eCommerce solution, get a good logo, and do some advertising to see what's happening.

Make a newsletter, give subscribers promo codes and other promotions.

Make a contest, give prices and so on.

      Good luck!

There are some good open source and commercial solutions available, you can consider open source solutions like open cart, presta shop etc or commercial solutions like Buysell from Agriya, Shopify etc, most of these apps help you to get going easily with very little customization or no customization required at all, you can also easily get help in these application from several freelancers available. All the very best with your shop
