Is there an association for UK book resellers?
I love books! That is why I want to get into buying and reselling them, but I dont know where to get started. Is there any type of reselling association in the UK that I could become a part of?

17 Jan 2011 06:37 AM #2Yes, there is a resellers association in the UK. It’s called The Bookseller’s Association. Many booksellers are members including wholesalers, book retailers, library suppliers, and independent booksellers. You receive access to:
● A forum for questions and advice.
● Special events and informative newsletters.
● The London Book Fair.
● Developments in technology.
● Information on consumer, trade and retail matters.
The Bookseller’s Association website is professional and easy to navigate: Booksellers Association of England & Ireland - Home. If you are interested in membership, e-mail your request to them and they’ll take care of it.Over 150,000 Verified Sources + Deals 95% Off MSRP + Free Website!

17 Jan 2011 07:40 AM #4The Provincial Booksellers Fairs Association is geared toward local booksellers in the UK. The website Provincial Booksellers Fairs Association provides:
● A listing of small, local monthly book fairs in the UK.
● Helpful links to related organizations, national libraries and buying books.
● Advice about bookselling from experienced members.
● How to apply and join: e-mail *Visible to qualifying WF members only*.
Two other reputable book associations are The Fine Press Book Association (Fine Press Book Association) and The Ephemera Society (The Ephemera Society - for the preservation, study and educational uses of printed ephemera).
● The Fine Press Book Association has more of a focus on the international side of printmaking, although it sponsors the well known Oxford Book Fair.
● The Ephemera Society focuses on preserving books, but sponsors fairs and bazaars in London, round the year. To access a full listing, go to The Ephemera Society - Events and Exhibitions.

17 Jan 2011 09:02 AM #6If you are an antique bookseller, a good association to join would be the Antiquarian Booksellers Association (Rare Books - ABA The Antiquarian Booksellers Association).
● It holds a few book fairs each year, including ones in Edinburgh and Chelsea.
● Access to antique book catalogues for help in pricing items.
● Search and contact past and present members.
● A list of helpful links about antique books, bookbinding, cataloguing, conservation and education.
You should contact *Visible to qualifying WF members only* if you are interested in joining this over one-hundred-year-old booksellers association.
