      Online Business Strategies

Running an online business is easy, right? Just build a website, put up some links and sit back and watch the money pour in.

Well, if you’ve been in business long enough, you already know everything doesn’t always work out like it should. It’s never A to B. But there’s no doubt in my mind that anything is possible.

So how do you make it online? Well let me show you how to get started.

      What works
Successful entrepreneurs know what they ought to be doing every day. They know what works and what doesn’t. That’s what I mean. They know what pays the most for the least amount of time.

      Understand what works
Start by listing your strengths and weaknesses. Now read your strengths. Out of those skills, what pays the most money in the least amount of time? What you want to do is make another list and see how much money you make versus time spent, then you’ll have a greater understanding of what’s the most bang for your buck.

      Work that pays
Ahh, work. It’s not enough to know what pays the most, you must actually work what pays the most. And, even better, you should schedule your day around it. That way, you make sure you’re spending as much time on it as possible.

      Outsource your weaknesses
Without a doubt, successful entrepreneurs know they don’t need to waste time leveling up their weaknesses. What they should focus on is leveling up their strengths and outsourcing their weaknesses.

      Why do it?
Because they make twice as much when they spend 90% of their time doing something that pays the most. And they can’t focus on what pays the most if they’re spending all their time leveling up their weaknesses or doing minuscule activities. We all have 24 hours in a day, so we must know how to make best use of our time, in order to become as successful as possible.

Yeah, you may have noticed these tips are not specific to anything on the Internet, these are general winning strategies. I did that on purpose – if you work these strategies online, you’ll work what works in any situation.

I think some people tend to give up pretty quick when they might walk into a niche that others have flocked to as well, you still have to remember what makes you different from the other guy. Good words of wisdom there but it still comes down to what people want to put in work wise.

I have an online business that took about a year to gain online presence. It takes committment but the sales that come trickling in kept me going. In 2008-09 was my best year in sales in the industry that I am in. My business was the foundation for alot of other business that have sprang forth. Marketing is key. I think I spent about 40% of my profits on marketing, I also started to praise my website on related forums and blogs, press releases are also a way to build a stronger online presence.

      Hi Remilace,

Thanks for sharing your story, you have raised some very important and valuable points in your post.

Marketing is key to success. Our view is that once your business settles to a self-sustaining volume, you should look at making your marketing also sustainable. What we mean is that there are better ways of spending 40% of your profits than on marketing activities which are simply aimed at reaching business sustainability.

There are marketing activities that have a much more lasting effect than, for example, a pay per click advertisement. While pay per click is very powerful for obtaining immediate awareness of your product, there are ways (as you said, like forum posting, social media involvement, or even for example a paper newsletter to your best customers) that can reinforce your relationship with existing and potential new customers, and which can have a much more lasting effect on their relationship with your business.
