A business plan isn’t set in stone. The market changes, suppliers go out of business, and you might even need to relocate unexpectedly (natural disasters, etc.).

I keep my business plan two years out and make adjustments where needed throughout the two year plan.

You all are talking about short term and long term plans. What exactly are the different types of business plans?

There are three types of business plans

      Mini plan
o This is a bare bone overview of your financial information and how you plan to operate your company

      Working plan
o Used to operate the day to day functions of the business

      Presentation plan
o Should you need to talk to financial institutions and/or investors you would have a dressed up version of the business plan
o Charts, photos can be put in PowerPoint form for presentations

All 3 require the same information that has been discussed throughout this thread: how will you handle money, where is your business located, who is your target audience, how you will supply inventory, etc.

Waiting to get paid/earn a profit can take a while from the start of your business. A business plan will need to include your financial plans (estimated time to profit; budgeting to avoid gross deficits, etc.).

A good business plan can make all the difference in whether or not you succeed. Taking the time to get your business plan in line means research, and lots of rewriting.
