How to start a new business using the Dropshipping Model

Hello,
I am new to the world of dropshipping! Actually at this point I have been doing reading on the subject wherever I can find it before I move forward. I have a background in computer programming and have plenty of free time, and would like to earn some money so I think dropshipping might be perfect for me.

Problem is really, where to start? There is so much conflicting information out there! I think I would start with Ebay and then move on to my own site once I get a feel for the market.

I see there are lists of dropshippers everywhere but really have no idea the best way to choose. I actually have a company in mind I'd love to get involved with but not sure if they do dropshipping, and really don't feel I know enough about all this yet to sound knowledgeable enough to inquire..... How do I ask? I have an email contact. This company definitely does sell wholesale however, I found their products at a Christmas market in Germany last winter.

A good reason to start with drop shipping is that there is little cost to set up, and it's great to find out what products are selling to customers without the risk of major bulk purchases or stock headaches.

I would recommend eBay as one way to start dropshipping or even amazon and over the next month test as many products as you can to find out what your customers tend to buy more of, once you know then either import it from China or buy it wholesale and sell via your own online store, eBay and Amazon.
