Very high shipment costs - Advice on getting down shipping price

I sent my first order to a company the other day, and although they had set prices for each item ( costumes), and they gave 5% discount because the order is over $1k, I thought the postage was very high ($669 for approx weight of 57kg with EMS), not that I know anything about freight costs.

Anyway, I emailed back that it was way to high, they came back saying that TNT is cheaper, and it came back as $422.

Have they set the freight costs high so I could haggle down, or is it that expensive anyway?

Should I haggle on the price of the costumes, or say I am an expert on sewing (yes I am, 30 years of sewing) and so expect a fair quality from them, or something along those lines?

Or, should i order, and on my next order ( if the quality is there) then haggle?

When are they shipping the costumes from? About how much do they weigh? If shipping from the US go online and check out the USPS rates.

If they bought sewing staff, I believe it would be in the Zhejiang area so it would not be possible to go post it in China.

You may one to check with some logistics companies there and get your supplier to send it to them.

These logistic companies can get up to 40% discount of what DHL or Fedex's publish price.

Sorry to post in your thread, but for sample products what is the reasonable price for shipping to ask from china to UK? Let's say for one KG powder? Because lowest I've got is 80USD per kg, highest 120 I think I'm being robbed.

If there is no extra charge in sending the powder, you are being robbed! Ask them to send via HK Post if you can wait. It will cost you 80, but in RMB!

You should search for more shipping companies on the internet who will charge less for their services.
