Price vs P&P - Low price, high shipping cost or High price, low shipping cost
Hi all,
New to the forum for the past couple of weeks. I've found the information on here really useful and it has helped me out a lot.
I have set up a drop shipping business online and I was just looking for some advice.
Sorry if this has been mentioned before.
Just wondered what puts consumers off more, High priced items and low shipping costs or lower priced items and a higher shipping cost?
Many thanks,

Hi Originalpetz,
Welcome to Wholesale Forum
Pricing your items too low is going to make you lose money and time, and pricing them too high is going to scare potential buyers off.
Online consumers are usually out for the product that costs less, the second thing that they look at is shipping costs. The first price online consumers see is the products cost price so this is going to determine the interest of the consumer, but when they see the shipping cost they are going to be scared off quite quickly. A lot of online scammers use low priced items to get buyers interested and then ask ridiculously high shipping costs.
High prices are normally used when dealing with products that have a certain uniqueness or quality. To ask a high price your item needs to reflect the quality that the consumer expects from it.
You need to research the product you are selling and see at which price it sells best, and in the consumers and your own interest you should keep shipping costs as low as possible. If you sell at a reasonable price and shipping cost is kept low, then you are sure to sell well.
You could use a market research tool like Terapeak to understand how to best sell a product. Terapeak answers the following question "How should I price each item to maximize my profits?"
We would like to invite you into reading the following articles about pricing on Wholesale Forum to get more information on pricing and pricing strategies:
