The advice I’ll give really can work for any supplier but they apply to suppliers in China as well as any other.

      1. Get basic information about the supplier.
      a. How long have they been in business
      b. What is the street address (check to see if this is a legitimate business address)
      c. What is the company website/phone/email
      d. Are they registered and what is their registry number (verify with the registry)

      2. Ask specifics about the products you wish to purchase
      a. Can they provide samples
      b. Do they have photographs of the products and factory
      c. How much do they manufacture of this product
      d. What quality controls do they use to insure the product performs
      e. Is there an MOQ

      3. Contact names, numbers, and emails
      a. Who is the top manager
      b. Who to contact on returns or defects
      c. Who to contact on shipping issues

      4. What types of payments are accepted
      a. Do they provide a line of credit
      b. What other payment options are available
      c. If they want money up front, be very sceptical and suspicious

      5. How long will it take to ship the product
      a. How many days should be expected
      b. What is the experience with shipping to UK through customs

      6. What are all the costs involved
      a. Product cost
      b. Packing
      c. Shipping
      d. Customs
      e. VAT
      f. Broker/agency fees if any

This should give you a good start. Good luck to you.
