How to verify an Indian company - India business verification checks
I have found a lot of good deals for my business with Indian suppliers, but am unfamiliar with this business community. Is there a place where I can conduct Indian business verification checks?

Conduct a simple Internet search on the supplier. If you find any questionable information about the company, then you probably do not want to use it. You can use these terms to guide your search:
1. scam, real: Type in these words with the company name in India and scan the results. This search will often bring up past customer reviews and information from review websites.
2. V: Use quotation marks and this letter with the company name you are searching, e.g. “v company name.” This will bring up any lawsuits connected with the Indian company, since legal cases are listed as company v company.Want To Be An eBay Powerseller? This is the Service You Need.

Those search words were helpful as I just verified one Indian company is not legitimate. However, there was no negative information on an Indian website I looked up. Is it safe to use?

Just because a company does not garner any negative information on a general search does not mean it is legitimate or that it won’t scam you. If you are trying to find information about a website, run a WhoIs search. Whois is a domain-based research service that will provide information about the Indian company’s website.
For example, it will tell you what person or company oversees the website and where they are located. It also gives you the expiration date of the website. If the website has not been updated in a while, is expired, or is operated outside of India by an unrelated company, you should avoid using the Indian website.

What a great tool! I wish there were more verification tools for Indian businesses on the Internet.

There is a government based Indian business directory that can tell you if a business is active. Go to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs website and type in the company name you are looking for. If the business you are searching is not found in the directory or is listed as inactive, do not use the business.

I have heard the best way to verify a business is by visiting it in person. Even though I do not want to do this, I will if it means I can prevent my company from dealing with a scammer.

If you visit a business in person, you will definitely be able to decide if it is going to meet your needs or not. You will meet management and get to see merchandise before ordering it. However, travelling to India can take a lot of time and money.
Often you can hire a third party in India to verify the business for you and provide an objective report.

hello i'm new here
Hi,
I just check up the company on the Ministry of Corporate Affairs website, but is there a place I could check if the director of the company is the person i'm dealing with? I'm located in Malaysia. Can I go to the Indian embassy to check up the information of a company? What do I need to bring with me if I want to check up the company. Please reply asap thank you very much for you help

Hi Alson,
Welcome to Wholesale Forum
Yes the full link is MCA21 *:*Check Company or LLP Name. You will also need to know the full address of the Indian company to verify it. The database returns all Indian businesses having the name you input, however the same name can be used in different Indian states / territories.
Regarding your specific query, you can find details at Welcome to High Commission of India, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)WholesaleForum
