Clothes and shoes are labour intensive products, you should import them from developing countries and export to developed ones.

      AVOID most popular products

If you are happy to run with the herd and sell the most popular products you must also be happy to make the low profit margins that the average seller appears to think is all you can get.

In my e-book on how to import large or small quantities direct from the factory I detail how I imported 1,000 specially made items at a landed cost of $3.00 each and sold them for $21.00 each. Usually I only multiplied my landed cost by 250% to arrive at my selling price, but I know other importers who frequently make higher margins.

So what to do? You must do some research. If you have experience in a particular industry, you will know something about what items are used in that industry. Even if you have simply been putting things together on an assembly line, you know what tools you use, what aids to manufacture are used (such as cotton gloves or magnifying goggles etc.) and what things get worn out in the factory.

If you have a hobby such as photography for example, are there things that you have wanted or needed but it was hard to locate supplies? Are some things obviously over priced?

Do your research and you may well find a market for something that is not "Popular to Sell". Then start looking for suppliers, but my recommendation is always to buy direct from the factory. Also make sure your first order is small.

Anyway, if you want to make more profits, you should do it in the field you understand very well.
