Vending machines have become ubiquitous these days. Whether you want soda cans, cigarettes, candies, or snacks, vending machines are there to serve you.

But, before you venture into this business, you should develop a proper business plan. Your plan should answer the following questions.

      1. How much money you want to invest?
      2. Whether you want to rent or buy the machines?
      3. What product/s you want to sell?
      4. Where will you install the machine?
      5. At what rate you will sell your product/s?
      6. In how much time, your vending machine should start generating profits?

I think that vending machine is a great business opportunity for people who want to run a business while continuing with their full time jobs. It gives you an opportunity to earn extra money. Once your vending machines start generating good profits, you can even give full time to your vending machine business and expand it.

I have one tip for all those interested in setting up a vending machine business - if you want to succeed in this business, you should choose the location for installation of your machines very carefully.

      You are right!
It’s best to install your machines in high traffic area like shopping malls, busy commercial streets, multiplexes, amusement parks, and pubs.

The choice of the location should also depend on the product you want to sell. For example, if you want to sell gumballs, your target customers are kids. In such a case, you can get good business if you install your machine near schools, amusement parks, shopping malls, and residential complexes. If you want to sell cigarettes, then installing vending machine near pubs, casinos, and restaurants will be great.

While deciding the location of the vending machine, you should think who your target customers are and where you can find them in large numbers. This will help you to find the ideal location for installing your machine.

I think airports and train stations are good places for installing vending machines. People usually spend a lot of time at airports and train stations waiting for their flights and trains respectively. It’s most likely that in their free time waiting passengers will indulge in some impulsive shopping like buying beverages and chocolates, which will help push up your sales.

Ill suggest that before finalizing the location of the vending machine, you should do extensive research of that area.

For example, if youre planning to install a Pepsi can vending machine, check the number of such machines already installed in that place. Find out if those machines are doing good business? If not, try to find the reasons for it.

Ive heard that many people use vending locators. Is it the best thing to do in order to find a profitable location?
