      Making a Supplements brand

I am a nutritionist with a degree in biology and have been making my own all natural dietary supplements for my own use. I want to put these supplements on the market under my own brand. How can I do this?

You are going to need a lot of capital starting out to create and market your own brand. You will need to buy large amounts of each ingredient you use to make your supplements, as well as packaging and labeling. And don’t forget that to get your product off the ground, you need to do a major marketing campaign, which costs money.

Before you invest a lot of money in creating your own supplement, visit a local supplement retailer or a gym to see if you can spark any interest in your product at those locations.

You should also get your products tested to make sure they are safe.

I have already put my supplements through the most rigorous tests to make sure they are safe to use.

Although I am sure the tests you have put your supplements through are exacting, I would still recommend getting your products tested by another professional, as well.

It is also important to do research about your country’s rules and regulations regarding the products and combinations of ingredients in your supplements. People are also going to want to see proven research. It is good that you have been developing your own formulas for your supplements, but make sure they are legitimate and safe.

Buy insurance for your brand, too; it is well worth the money. All of your hard work in getting your brand on its feet could go to waste if an unhappy customer unjustly blames side-effects and sues you.

After following all these steps, how would I get people to notice my product?

You may have a supplement developed, but in order to sell your brand, you must market it well. First of all, your brand needs to be unique, offering something no other brand does. You also need to advertise so consumers become familiar with your brand:

      ● Create an attractive, professional label for your supplements.

      ● Create signs and brochures about your product for retailers to use.

      ● Create a website that is dedicated to displaying and explaining your brand and products.

The best way to advertise your brand is to get a major distributor to carry it. Contact manufacturers and pitch the unique, yet safe, aspects of your supplement.

You could always become a contract manufacturer because you are able to create labels and other materials for your own supplements.

Contract manufacturing is certainly a way to go. There are two supplement suppliers I know that offer that service: Private Label Fitness and Nutricap. In both programs, you can pay for the companies to put together, label, and dropship your own supplements.
