Looking for UK trade magazines for book sellers

I am a book reseller in the UK who has been at it for five years. I try to stay as up to date with all the new trends as possible, but sometimes I end up missing information which would have been good for business. Are there any trade magazines in the UK that would cover these topics? I would love to subscribe to one or two so I stay informed.

There are, in fact, quite a few UK trade magazines that cater to book resellers. One of these is TheBookseller.com and it offers a variety of services:

      ● The latest industry news on its homepage.
      ● Blogs, charts and in depth articles about issues that matter to resellers.
      ● A listing of jobs in the book selling and publishing industries.
      ● Information on conferences, awards and pertinent videos.
      ● Links to social media such as Twitter.

Scroll down the homepage to find quick links to articles, charts and videos. There is also the option to subscribe the magazine at the bottom of the page. Altogether, theBookseller.com | Daily News and Comment for the book business is a very informative, reliable magazine for book resellers to access.

I find myself in a similar situation, but don’t want all the videos and blogging associated with bookseller.com. Is there a magazine that is straight book seller news?

A good website to view a variety of articles about book selling in the UK is booktrade.info.

      ● Articles on a variety of topics themed on UK book selling including opinions, features and announcements.
      ● Easy-to-read script and layout.
      ● Access to book trade directories.
      ● A link to the latest Bestseller List.

Booktrade reads almost like a newspaper with headlines on the homepage linking to whole articles. There are few if any pictures and advertisements. Like hard copy magazines, you will need to subscribe to the magazine. You will receive a user name and password to log into the site with.

I really like the graphics on the first site, but the second one is a little too dry. I realize this may not be realistic, but is there one that is possibly a mix of the two?

There is one more that is a good mix of the newspaper style, but that still includes legitimate graphics and pictures. It is Publisher’s Weekly: Book Reviews, Bestselling Books & Publishing Business News | Publishers Weekly.

      ● Latest news stories at the top of the homepage.
      ● A slideshow of pictures having to do with articles.
      ● Blogs and job listings.
      ● A section devoted to children’s books.
      ● Access to both a print edition, as well as an online one.
      ● Articles cover industry news, book news, children, digital, international and authors.
      ● A bestseller chart on the homepage.

Altogether, the site is easy to access and navigate. It covers everything you could think of having to do with books and reselling them. It is a site that mixes a few good photos with many pertinent articles.

The magazine is published from the US and is available internationally. You can look up their site which has all the details or you can call up their London representative for more info.
