You first have to decide which gaming systems you want to use, then look at the best selling second hand games for that system. There are a growing number of systems to look at now:

      • Sony PS3
      • Sony PS2
      • Sony PSP
      • Nintendo DS
      • Wii
      • Xbox
      • Xbox 360

In my business I focus on retro games and systems like Atari and Sega. So I keep a good stock of Donkey Kong and Frogger on hand – they move quickly. I include a variety of repair parts and also repair the systems.

Another way to find some best selling retro/used video games you can go to Amazon and sort the list based on popularity. You can also go to eBay and do the same search, but they do not offer a “best selling” option in their sorting lists, so you will have to browse and see what has sold the most. That takes a little more work, but if you think you’re up for it, you can expand your list a bit more through this method.

Dealsrus, can you explain how you get what has sold on eBay? I’d like to compare with Amazon so I can get some good lists and use them to buy and resell.

      Sure.

      1. Go to eBay and do your usual search on “retro video game” or whatever keywords you want to use.
      2. Scroll down to the selection on the left side of the screen under “Show Only”
      3. Select “Completed Listings”
      4. When you do that, the screen will refresh. It now shows you what sold and for how much.
      5. You still have to scroll through the listings but it gives you a smaller set to work with.
      6. You might also check the “Matching eBay Stores” section on the bottom left. Looking at what your competition is selling is helpful as well.

This should give you a good idea of what the best selling retro video games are and which ones you want to stock.
