15 Jan 2011 01:49 AM #2The biggest and best known book fair in the UK is the London Book Fair, obviously named for the city it is in. It includes:
● Sale and distribution of books.
● Print, audio, TV, film and digital genres.
● Innovations in the publishing world.
● Presentation of a Lifetime Achievement Award.
● Occurs annually; this year it is from April 11-13th.
● Located at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre in Kensington, London.
You can check out everything the fair offers at The London Book Fair - Welcome to The London Book Fair 2011. The website is professional and easy to access, as well as informative.Over 150,000 Verified Sources + Deals 95% Off MSRP + Free Website!

That is great since I will be able to look up some of the biggest publishers who will be present here. I wish they could somehow be having all the titles I’m specifically looking for.

15 Jan 2011 02:27 AM #4Actually, through its website, the London Book Fair offers year round interaction for those interested in attending.
● Nominate someone for the Lifetime Achievement Award.
● Watch the Show video.
● Watch videos of interviews with well known members of the book and publishing industries.
● Read articles about highlighted items, as well as deals.
● If you are on Twitter, you can also follow this event and receive updates.

The London Book Fair is a great place for large amounts of people to gather. It would be rather fun, though, to get to a smaller local show or fair. Know of any?

15 Jan 2011 03:17 AM #6Book shows range in size from those like the London Book Fair to smaller regional fairs. These usually take place in public buildings or church halls and include:
1. The Leeds Book Fair in Yorkshire
2. The Oxford Book Fair in Oxfordshire
3. The Sherborne Book Fair in Dorset
4. The Barton Book Fair in Lacashire
5. The Library Book and Periodical Sale in Waterdale, Yorkshire
A great resource for finding updated information about local book fairs in the UK is UK Secondhand and Antiquarian Book Fair Calendar. It includes the time, exact location and contact information of the organizer.

Should I make time to visit a smaller book fair, as well as the one in London? I’m just wondering how the experience compares.

15 Jan 2011 03:38 AM #8You will certainly get a unique experience going to a large show as well as a small regional fair. There are advantages to checking out the smaller shows:
● Used and antiquated books at bargain prices.
● They may only have a few sellers, but they usually have unique products or services to offer.
If there is a bookseller in your town, check with him or her to see what local fairs they like or recommend you going to.
