Looking for a reliable payment method

Do you guys know of a payment gateway with a solid history and low fees? I canít find any right now. Iím already using PayPal as my current provider. Iím just wondering if there is anything else out there that accepts major credit cards. Iím not expecting anything major for the first year, especially in the times we are in, just doing some research and seeing things in a greater perspective, so something without the high prices would be perfect.

Try contacting your bank and ask them about their merchant account services:

      1. Set up fee

      2. Monthly maintenance fee

      3. % fee + fixed fee on transactions

Once you have this information, try contacting other local banks and get other quotes to compare.

Also check this thread for discussions on credit card payment processors (some will also offer the option to open a merchant account with them, in case it's more convenient than opening a merchant account with your bank): https://www.wholesaleforum.com/payments-finance-discussion/76-credit-card-processor.html

You must have a merchant account before you can accept credit card payments. See: Merchant account - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If youíre selling within a forum community (WholesaleForum.com) PayPal is your best bet. 90% of buyers expect you to use it and itís a shame to deny their business. You should take a look at Website Payments Pro by PayPal. It lets you process major credit cards without the people being redirected to PayPal.

I personally use SagePay with an HBOS merchant account. Other than that, NoChex and Google Checkout are fairly reliable too. As another pointer, I think if you donít offer a PayPal payment option youíll lose a lot of business.

Just watch out for the transaction fees, but once you establish a good history with whatever service provider, expect everything to drop considerably.

      PayPal and WorldPay

Iím not saying theyíre the best, but they are very popular. If you want a successful business, you have to pay the cost to be the bossÖ

Wholesale is right on the money with this one, be careful of those places that have intro fees and then change the rates after you have been with them for so long too. I can not speak about WorldPay though but once you find a good provider you will be well on your way. The biggest hangup I see for those wanting to start their own little niche sites on the web is how they plan to process funds. That and maybe having a bad hosting company are the two top issues I tend to see.

As far as I know Pay pal would be the right option for you and it's good that you already have an account with paypal. The fact is I have yet not found any reliable or easy alternative to money exchange as compared to paypal...
