Buying from Chinese Suppliers with no Credit Card

So I have a little dilemma, I am 17 therefore am not old enough to have my own credit card. I want to sell Chinese branded electronics on the web but am afraid of not having enough buyers protection because I read using your credit card is the safest way because it is not YOUR money exactly. I was going to use my mom's CC but she is being very resistant and I feel as if she does not believe in me. I had an idea of using paypal's greendot cards and just pay using paypal directly but I hear paypal does not have much buyer's protection when you are not using it with eBay. Any ideas? I refuse to give up.

      Hi AJ,

      Welcome to Wholesale Forum

It's true, PayPal is reducing its exposure to Chinese transactions, and its buyer protection is limited when ordering from China (check their terms for details: eBay Buyer Protection)

The advantage of PayPal is that it's fairly economical for low value transactions, therefore in principle it allows you to factor in the loss from receiving not-as-described merchandise. The safe alternatives are:

      1. Escrow (is too expensive for low value transactions, and is not accepted by all suppliers)
      2. Any pre-paid credit card (check issuer's terms, generally grants good protection)

If all this becomes overwhelming, consider partnering with:

      - A local importer: importers order in large quantities, and can obtain much better pricing at source. Their selling price to you could easily be cheaper than ordering just 1 unit directly from China.
      - An agent in China: someone you know and trust, with good business ethic, that you can rely on to source and inspect all kinds of Chinese electronic products.

      Hope this helps

I agree with you WholesaleForum. You need find a trustable wholesaler or partner, biggest may not best, smaller may not worse one. paypal have good buyer protection, no matter where you buy.

Just be careful you research the supplier thoroughly as I have been scammed by a Chinese supplier selling counterfeits. Do your research and you will be fine. Paypal is a bit expensive but probably your best option or you could use direct debit, no buyer protection though.
