It�s a verified operation, however, you still need to guard against fake sites posing as the real stuff, these are the ones you really need to avoid and simply use what you know will work 99% of the time. After the introduction of the Payment Services Regulations 2009, escrow services are now coming under pressure in the UK. One thing you can do is search for genuine providers at FSA Register if you�re based in the UK (search for escrow in the Name textbox).
