What does Sanitized Invoice mean - Why is my supplier offering these?

I feel a little foolish, but I do not know what a sanitized invoice is. Can someone explain it to me?

Also known as a sterilized invoice, a sanitized invoice is when the details are marked over or blocked out. For example, price, date and contact information would definitely be marked over.

A sanitized invoice does include a trademark, logo, and size and color information of the purchased goods. It proves that a person bought from a reliable source.

No, this document is used by brokers and resellers to prove merchandise is authentic. The sanitized invoice itself is not an original document, so you do not need any documents to go along with it.

So is this a legal way to prove authenticity for wholesalers?

Sanitizing an invoice is in no way a legal way to prove authenticity. It is just a way that the wholesaler can prove to his or her customers that they are dealing authentically. A lot of customers will ask a wholesaler for a sanitized invoice as a way to verify that they are genuine.
