First and foremost - what links does your competitor have? Perform some analysis of the page 1 results and see where they are linking to. You do the same.

Next, SEO is not difficult, it is time-consuming and tedious. Check and double-check to make sure your meta data is optimized and you are properly using your keywords. Now for tips --

      1. Create a blog focused on informative information for your audience. No really INFORMATIVE, not just words to fill a page.

      2. Distribute some articles, but make sure you write them with the potential customer in mind. For example, if you sell clothing, feature an A-line dress on your site, then write an article or blog about how A-line dresses create a slimming illusion, with one link back to the page featuring A-line dresses and one link back to the home page. Use no more than 2 links in your articles that link back to your website.

      3. If you sell shoes, write an article about a particular shoe that women can wear in the office and after 5. Add a catchy headline and some valuable tips.

      4. Sign up for a Yahoo Voices account and begin posting articles. Many times if you have good headliners you have a chance of getting featured.

      5. Obviously, sign up for Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter. Now, many businesses become bored with social media, only because they are not using them to their advantage. Whatever your niche is, keep up with the latest info and reinforce with your own tips. Back to shoes and clothes -- sorry, I love to shop -- if a model falls at a show, you send out a twitter saying "Ouch! But she looked damn good in those shoes! - Beauty at all cost" Point being, start a conversation and be ready to suggest your shoes when someone comes back with a response.

There are so many opportunities for back linking but many entrepreneurs do not have time. However, this is what it takes to grow your enterprise.
