      ● Google Adwords Quality Score

Based on the relevance of the keywords you plug into the Adwords gadget to your website. That is, the keywords you choose will trigger the specific ads that will show on your site, and those ads need to be related not only to your product/service, but that of the original search that brought them to your page in the first place.

A lower quality score equates to higher per-click costs, so you want to pay attention to that score. This is mostly because of Google’s high standards in evaluating sites for search results.

      ○ Use the keyword research tool (and any toys Google provides, really), but don’t go for the highest volume keywords. They aren’t targeted really at all (that is, they aren’t specific enough. “scores” vs “football scores”... vs “Bears record 2008”), and therefore will be the subjects of heavy competition, and will get you few conversions besides. Instead, go for the lower volume, more specific keywords. Opt for key phrases, really, as people tend to search in phrases, and a phrase can be far more targeted than individual words, and since they’re less in demand, they happen to be cheaper.

      ○ Use a single, highly descriptive and relevant keyword phrase for the title of your advert. This is a phrase that absolutely must show up on your landing page. Remember, you want site content, Adwords keywords/phrases, and advertisement content to be highly related and pertinent to one another.

      ● Be clear about your product and prices in the ad. This will weed out the casual surfer, unless the product is actually of interest and within his price range. Remember, you pay per click, but only get paid if a purchase is made!

      ● Make the user want to click your ad. Users like free and discounted, and so these words are more compelling than a truckload of superlatives. Just make sure you actually have some free or discounted product to offer once they click through.

      ● Research. Check out other adword campaigns used by your competition and even other industries. Find good ideas and save them for your own use.

I’ve done a little research, and I’ve come up with a few things I figured I’d ad to the discussion (see what I did there?). First and foremost don’t get carried away, and know how much you’ll be willing to lose (because you will lose some money). Start keyword bidding low and in small batches, increasing your volume as you’re honestly able. Poke, prod, and test your campaigns to make sure they’re still working for you.

Seems like a bit of attention and patience is really all it takes to at least make AdWords work on a basic level. Thanks for the inspiration, COPYTHAT!

I’ve found that using the keyword or phrase in my title makes the search listing more noticeable. The keywords then show up twice: once in the title of that page and once in the description. The listing then stands out on the page, more so than other results.

You can also list the price of an item in the title or meta description. This strategy can backfire, obviously, if someone else has a lower price and it’s listed in their title, but if you’re confident and offer a fair and competitive price, then including it in the title helps the listing to stand out again.

You must use Google Adwords for business enhancement. There is a Google Adwords feature called remarketing, this facility provides you the option of displaying ads on the browser of clients who had visited your website earlier.

Horror stories arise from people who set big budgets (that they can't afford to lose). Start with a reasonable amount and monitor its progress. If you lose it, it isn't that big of a deal. If you set your budget to an amount you can't afford to lose thinking you'll for sure make it back, think again. Baby steps till you figure out what works.
