      Need dropshipping email marketing tips.

Trying to figure out some new marketing techniques for my dropshipping business and wanted to see what people think of email marketing.

Do emails sent to customers/potential customers, get marked as SPAM? If I send emails how can I avoid being sent to the SPAM folder?

I want to see what the pros and cons of email marketing are for a drop shipper.

Email marketing can totally work for a dropshipping business! You can do this yourself or hire someone to manage the email campaign and write the newsletters.

Here are some things to cross off your list before you get started –

      • Make sure you have permission to send subscribers email – send a confirmation request
      • Get an online email newsletter service (some are free depending on user count)
      • Can your site handle the traffic? Is your dropshipper ready for the orders?

All those questions are important because email marketing can seriously boost your sells. It’s one of the best marketing techniques in terms of return investment.

Once you have all the above taken care of, then you need to think about what you are going to write to your potential customers.
A few suggestions of what to put and not to put in a marketing email as a dropshipper: –

      • Keep subjects brief and interesting (if they don’t like the subject they won’t read the email)
      • Include calls for action throughout the email
      • Use links to your landing page
      • Don’t put FREE in the subject (that makes it look like SPAM)
      • Put Facebook, Twitter and other social account info in the email
      • Keep voice consistent (are you chatty? Persuasive? )

The best thing about email marketing is that you can test it fairly easy. You could send one email with a certain design and content to one half of your email list and the other half would receive something different.

You really have to analyze your web traffic and email response in order to make this work. Like I said above, you can hire people to do this for you.

Email marketing can help every business and yes that includes us traders who use dropshipping.

Want to echo the point about making sure the dropshipper can handle the increase. You should expect and prepare for more business – so you need to double check the inventory.

Also, try to include a coupon or free shipping offer in the email. Don’t keep the email stiff either, try to insert a video or fun contest or poll.

I use email newsletters to promote the latest albums I have. Including things like “new products just in” or if it’s the holidays saying something along the lines of “perfect holiday gifts”, it will get the reader’s attention.

People reading things online have a very short attention span. You have about 2 seconds to grab them and pull them in. I use a lot of links in my emails because you never know what will make a person “click.”

Great to know that email marketing campaigns do work! I’m so excited now

How long should the subject line be? If it’s too long are words cut off for the reader to see?

Yes, you can use emails to send to your dropshipping customers. There is a good free email service called Mail Chimp that you should check out. It’s free up to 500 email accounts.

Only send people an email though if you have permission to send them an email. If people think you are spamming them then you should just forget it.

Whenever I’m writing an email to promote my dropshipping, I always think about urgency – you want the reader to act right then and there. If they come back that’s great but it’s always good to get them to complete the process as soon as possible.

Whenever someone registers for your email newsletter, you should automatically send them a confirmation request. They don’t have to do anything, but you should at least send them an email notifying them that they will be receiving an email from you unless they opt out.

As far as the subject goes – only the first 40 characters are going to be seen. Put the important information at the front of the subject.

Keep it creative and light. You don’t have to sound stuffy or too personable either. Figure out what your audience responds to and that is what you should use.

Don’t be overly pushy or wordy with your emails. Sometimes dropshippers don’t think they have anything to talk about but remember you have a web site with all these products.

You are already promoting yourself and dropshipping items; so, emails are just one more way. Certainly, make sure the website is functioning and in good design. People can get turned off; so, pay attention to bounce rates.
