How can I make Google Instant work best for my site?

With the new search option of Google Instant Im guessing that the way we used to figure out good keywords is going to change too. So, how can I make Google Instant work for me and my site?

Youre right. Google Instant is going to have an effect in the amount of traffic your website gets, based on your keywords. Before you can understand how to make Google Instant work for you, you have to understand what Google Instant is and how its designed to work.

      1. Google Instant is basically a way for users to see search queries while they are still typing a search into the Google Search box.

      2. Google has designed Google Instant to work like this to save internet users time as they search for information on the web. Google has actually predicted that this new technology will save internet users 2-5 seconds for every search.

      3. The way it works is by automatically showing, and changing, the displayed search results as you type meaning, it will change results for every letter or two thats typed. It works as a search query predictor.

I guess I’m a little behind, but how is this different than before? Google always predicts what you’re typing and you just select the option you want if you see it and hit “Search” to get the results…is this not the same thing?

No, this isnt the same thing. Its different in the sense that you dont have to select the option you want and hit search for the results. Instead, lets say youre looking for fish tanks so you type in fish t - Google will have already pulled up the search results for fish tanks because it has already predicted thats what youre looking for based on the number of search queries for that keyword.

Now that I understand how it works and what it’s designed to do – how am I supposed to get my website to rank well based on the keywords?

Well, as you know, the right SEO keywords are very important in getting your website to rank well. Before Google Instant came along all you had to do was find a good SEO keyword predictor like Micro Niche Finder, etc. and the program would automatically give you popular keywords based on the searches performed.

This worked great because internet users had to actually think about what search term they were going to search for. However, with Google Instant they dont have to do that. All they have to do is start to type and Google will predict what theyre looking for.

This means that you need to be finding your keywords based on Googles results and not other search engines combined. Google is going to be ranking keywords now based on the instant keywords that users select as they are typing in the search box.

There’s got to be a way to do that…to find Google’s keyword results. Is there a program or something that you can use to do this?

Ive actually come across IBP (iBusinessPromoter). All I did was download the program and then, searched for my keywords in the keyword manager under the Google Suggest source. Its pretty easy to use. When you select the Google Suggest as the source, its just looking for the keywords that rank high in Google.

While you can download a program like IBP, you can also do a couple other things to find the right keywords for your website.

Look at your Google Analytics Report this will show you what keywords are still generating good traffic and which ones arent. (More than likely, its the long-tailed keywords that will suffer from Google Instant)

Use Google Instant to Find Keywords If youre trying to find good keywords for a site, just begin typing keyword phrases in Google Instant and it will automatically show you the most popular phrases because the program is designed to predict them.
