Custom packing is GREAT for people who are serious about making a name for themselves! I make baking materials like ceramic pans and pots. Custom product packaging really makes my product look professional and presentable. I strongly encourage you to do it if you make your own goods!

Custom product packaging is definitely a smart move for entrepreneurs who want to build brand and reputation.
some good reasons to consider custom product packaging:
• Professional presentation to your customers
• Builds your brand in the product as well as your company
• Provides product protection specific to your needs and desires
• Naturally appealing to most customers and helps spread the word of your company and product
• Differentiates your product and company from others
One company I have used before is Packaging Solutions for some of my electronics products. But this company requires high volume and substantial order minimums. I don’t know if this is something you would try.

MTP85 I do not have enough volume to deal with a big company and meet their minimum requirements.
who do you use for your packaging? I am a small crafter who makes shawls and cloaks and sells mostly on Etcy. I want some nice custom packaging for my clothing to ship to customers.

I have tried a couple of things. Now that my volume is pretty good I use Box Co-op (Custom full color printed box packaging - The Box Co-op). Their minimum is 1,250 packages. I did my own design work and sent it to them. They printed it and sent me the boxes. Im still using them and will probably do once-a year custom package orders with them.
The other thing I did was create my own custom packages. This was fun but it was tiring after awhile so thats when I went with a custom package company. Heres how I did my own custom product packaging
1. Come up with a design that is simple yet communicates your product. Look at some competitors and try to make yours different and more appealing.
2. Keep your design down to 2 or 3 colours. That keeps your expense lower.
3. Use your logo for your company, or if you want your own special brand create a logo for that brand that compliments your company logo.
4. Use a common font/type but something that works with what you want to sell. If you stick with something common, you can always go to a professional designer/printer in the future to beef it up more.
5. Think of some slogans or copy to print on your package that describes the contents... Best cookies ever or Premium materials for premium customers
6. Now print your design on either sticker-paper or wrapping paper. I preferred stickers myself. I used 5 x 5 stickers.
7. Get plain brown shipping boxes and place your stickers on them as you desire. Remember that if you are shipping the product leave space for a shipping label.
I hope this helps! I love my boxes and I would recommend Box Co-op.

That still seems like a lot of expense for a box that will be ripped open and thrown away. I wouldnt do custom packaging.

I have a good idea for custom product packaging. Use ULine boxes and if you like put an attractive sticker on them. They’re perfect for shipping and the colours are very vibrant. And the order minimum is VERY reasonable – starts at 25 boxes! ULINE - Cardboard Boxes, Shipping Supplies, Packaging Materials, Plastic Bags

Tweet33 that really sounds like something I need for my custom packaging. I like design and artwork so I may design my own stickers. Ill use the ULine boxes to start. Then work my way up into the big time!
