LinkedIn is an excellent platform for business networking.

Here are the steps for creating a business profile on LinkedIn.

      1. Click on “companies” in the menu tab.
      2. Click on “add a company.”
      3. You’ll be asked to enter the name of your company and the e-mail address.
      4. Once the e-mail address is verified, LinkedIn will ask you to enter more information about your company, like the category to which your business belongs, a description about your business, and the number of employees.
      5. Use the LinkedIn wizard for creating your company profile page. It allows you to add the logo of your company and feeds to your company’s blog.
      6. Once the above steps are accomplished, your company’s profile will be ready.

Apart from the information given by you, LinkedIn will extract some more useful information from your company’s website and show it on the profile page, like the average age of your employees, the profiles of some of your present and past employees, stock price, and so on.

As soon as your profile page is ready, you should join groups related to your business. This will be your first step to start networking with the business communities on LinkedIn. But, limit yourself to less than 10 groups, as it requires time and effort to keep up with the activities within the groups.

If you don’t mind spending money on creating your company’s profile on LinkedIn, you should go for a custom company profile. This profile product has a lot of customized features and also allows you to add video.

But, I think the basic profile page is sufficient. Recently, LinkedIn has added various tabs that can be used by businesses to load a lot of information on their profile pages.

Yeah… the improved version of LinkedIn is quite good and sufficient for small companies.

I’ve heard that anybody can change the information on a company’s profile page if he has a LinkedIn profile page and his e-mail address has the domain name of the company? Is that true?

Yes, it’s true. But usually, only employees have e-mail addresses with the same domain name as that of the company. So, I don’t think you should worry about this issue. Why would your employees change the information about your company?

The most important benefit is that it allows you to network with your clients and prospective employees. It can also help you to increase traffic to your website.
