That is partly true, seo is just like running a race, its not good to slow down or stop when you get ahead of the pack, someone will come from behind and overtake you.... it is good to keep on adding new content to your website because search engines are always looking for freshness and updated sites, it is also good to keep on building quality back links to the website ... the more links that point to your website, the more important the search engines see your site, if you stop with promotions some other sites can come up and take your higher ranking....
      - a good approach though is to take a look at what it being on high up on search engine ranking means to your business, if being number 1 on google makes you an extra $5000 a month but you have to spend $1000 a month to stay at number 1 then its worth it, but if being number one on google only makes $500 a month but you still have to spend $1000 for seo work then it will be better to place your capital and focus on some other marketing techniques like ppc , pay per click ads on google or social media marketing or the best form that is better for your business..... In todays world seo seems to be best when we look at ROI but we always have to remember that seo is not for everyone ..

yeh , agree, i spend all promotion budget on B2B this month , very small result , every seeker send more than 50 inquiry to different company and ignore most of the reply . we are biding for whose mail will be opened by customers. now , i come back to SEO my web , it will take time , but it is my own showroom, i can stick the visitors who visit us with my service.

To me SEO and most of the other paid techniques are just too expensive.
Especially if they only work for a month or so, till others catch you up!

    6. Thank you for this post:

      Its Digmen !

And I think it depends on your website and what you are selling.

Eg There are some things people just don't search for, so you may have to reply on them seeing a banner ad or reading a text ad.

And If you are like me and always in the top 3 or 4 results on Google organic why would you spend any money on SEO ?

But even though I am in the top 3 or 4 I still don't get many hits or sales, so I have to look for cost effective advertising.
