Tablets, Phones, Computers, Speakers and Accessories Dropshippers with Return & Refund Warranty

      Hello,

I haven't got any answers to my threads yet but hopefully someone will answer me. I have started an online retail business. I would really like to sell digital products (tablets, phones, speakers, accessories, computers etc.) They would be branded, I have heard they don't have a good profit margin. I might reconsider. But I'm more interested in some tips on how to make refunds, returns and warranty work. In Estonia customers may ask full refund for 14 days when buying from an online store. I haven't met any drop-shippers yet who offers 14 days full refund and good return/exchange opportunity. Any suggestions ? Problem is if customer orders lets say tablet for 400 Euros and he just doesn't like it and wants a full refund. I would have to pay from my own pocket because the supplier does not refund. What to do in this situation.

      Regards,
      Kaur

      Hi Kaur,

You can control who your customers are. This can be done in the following ways:

      1. The marketplaces through which you sell your products. For example, eBay is for bargain hunters. eBay buyers can be fussier because they have a lot of choices and know that eBay will tend to side with them. If you cannot offset eBay's issues with their high traffic volume, sell elsewhere (eg your own site, Facebook, face to face).

      2. The filters you put in place to block buyers who have a low or unknown reputation (for example, you can filter out buyers with a feedback score < x, or accept payment methods on your ecommerce site which require double verification)

      3. Your marketing: the keywords your target and the wording you use in your ads will determine who buys from you.

      4. Your terms and extended warranty options.

Ultimately you will have to account for some returns. If you are using a reliable supplier and the goods are branded (and therefore known to the buyer) you should not experience more than a 5% return rate. When an item is returned in its original condition, you can simply ship it to your next customer who buys the same product. If the returned item is no longer in a brand new state, you can sell it as used at cost or at a loss. Ultimately you will need to account for some cost of returns in your margins and projections.

      Hope this helps

Thank You for Your time and answers. We are setting up our own online retail site/shop, maybe later using eBay, amazon also. I can define all the terms for warranty and exchange but it does not change the fact that there still is law and people using it quite often here. They have 14 days to return product for full refund. Doesn't matter what the problem is, if its not made by purpose(product still has to be in original box with everything included) I will have to refund it. Maybe it's just that I have to know about that chance. With decent supplier I hopefully wont have any problems with any returns/warranty.

      Regards,
      Kaur
