Starting up and sourcing from China - New to the wholesale business

      Hello All!

Today is my first day on Wholesale Forum.

I recently decided on starting my business as a seller and I'm pretty much in the learning stages.

I would love to start doing business with China manufacturers and buying wholesale from them, but I'm a long way from that. Although I hope to be able to do that in the near future.

Any tips for me in regards to starting my new business? Any tips would be very much appreciated.

      Thank You!

      Hi Jborcegui

      Welcome to Wholesale Forum

When sourcing from China, there are a number of things which you need to keep in mind.

      1. Branded goods cannot be sourced from China. Some branded goods are produced in China, but the factories in which they are produced have tight contracts with the brand holders. These contracts state that, the factory is only allowed to sell directly to the brand or its authorized distributors.

      2. Verifying your supplier. Since your supplier is a long way from your location it is easy for them to take advantage of you. Some suppliers will take your money and not send you the goods you have ordered, others will send you fake / counterfeited items which are illegal to resell and could get you into legal trouble. You should verify every supplier you are interested in working with.

      3. Quality and price. Many cheap products can be sourced from China for very competitive prices, but you need to verify that the products you will be selling are of the quality you expect them to be. You should always order samples to check the quality (and service), before gradually increasing the volume of your orders.

If you want to find many verified Chinese and Hong Kong suppliers you can safely deal with, then we recommend using eSources and Worldwide Brands. They are the largest global trade directories of verified wholesalers, distributors, manufacturers and drop shippers.
