Starting a retail business on eBay - Tips for products and suppliers

I am thinking of starting a retail business on auction sites to resale goods that I buy through you.

I would be very grateful for advice on how to start going about it. I already have two shops opened on eBay and am looking to sell goods through those shops.

What I need to know is a few pointers as to the best way to go about this and advice on what to sell

I would be grateful for any help and advice on this.

      Hi Jane,

      Welcome to Wholesale Forum

You might already be aware of this, but whenever someone wants to resell to make a profit in the UK, that person needs to be registered either as a sole trader or a limited company. Have a look at the following threads which explain more about registering in the UK:

      - https://www.wholesaleforum.com/discu...der-hmrc-4082/

The best products someone can sell is a product which they personally know something about. You will be able to highlight all the positive aspects of that product, and provide quality descriptions and product pictures. Since products you want to sell online might not always be the best selling products, we recommend doing some research to see which products are currently selling best on eBay.

A great market research tool you can use, to find out what is selling best on eBay, is Terapeak. It can tell you what is selling best and how you should sell those products to make the most profits.

You should also consider sourcing some seasonal stock to start selling on eBay. You are not to late to start profiting from this holiday season. We recommend getting rid your leftover holiday stock when you see prices start dropping, even if you have to sell at cost, and reinvest you profits in new stock.

Wholesale Forum recommend starters to find a niche market. You should recognize a market which has a demand for supply, focus on that product group and offer all related products. To read more about niche markets, you should have a look at the following thread:

You could, of course, try any of the methods described above to see which works best for your business. If you want to successfully grow your business, then you need to recognize possibilities and reinvest your profits.

For more information about starting up on eBay, have a look at the following threads:

If you are ready to start buying stock then we recommend using the largest global trade directories of verified suppliers. eSources, Wholesale Deals and Worldwide Brands all list verified wholesalers, distributors, manufactures and drop ship suppliers.

To get more information about these directories, have a look at the following thread:

      Hope this helps
