Starting an on-line business - Finding reliable suppliers and sourcing from China

I live in Western Australia and want to start an on-line business.

I have found what I believe to be a great product but cannot get replies when I email suppliers for prices and order quantities.

I have sourced these from a couple of sites in China but I'm not getting very far, I'm also worried about being scammed.

It is very hard to know which site to trust, any advice would be appreciated.

      Hi Aussiedream,

      Welcome to Wholesale Forum

You should contact as many different suppliers as you can to increase your chances of finding a supplier who will be willing to work with you.

Wholesale suppliers receive hundreds of new account requests every day so you need to stand out of the crowd. One way of standing out is by being persistent. Also make sure that the subject (title) of your email is enticing enough to make the supplier want to read it. For example, a supplier is more likely to open an email with a subject like "Profitable business opportunity" then one that says "Request new trade account".

Many reliable suppliers can be found in China so you should not exclude this sourcing option. Just make sure that the suppliers you are dealing with are legitimate. You can ask Wholesale Forum for a review of suppliers you find by posting a new review request in Wholesale & Dropshipping Reviews - Wholesale Forum

To reduce your sourcing risk and find many verified trade suppliers who you can deal with safely, we recommend using the three largest online trade directories of verified wholesale suppliers eSources, Wholesale Deals and Worldwide Brands. These directories list thousands of verified wholesalers, distributors, manufacturers and drop shippers.

To learn more about finding and verifying suppliers you should read the following threads:You can also tell us which products your are looking for by posting a request in Wholesale Discussion - Wholesale Forum We shall do our best to provide reliable suppliers and results from the directories mentioned above.
