What are the European Safety Norms for importing or selling products in EU?

      Hello,

I am selecting products to import/sell and I have one problem.

I heard about the European norms (Safety....). We have to make sure that products follow the European norm if we want to sell them.

I wonder which products are subjected to the European norms ? Where can I find certain information on this issue?

      What is your experience/solution?

      Thank you.

      Regards,
      Visal

You can find a complete list at New Approach Standardization in the Internal Market

Products affected must have a CE Certificate. When obtaining such a certificate from a supplier overseas it is very important that you do not take it on face value, because it is not unusual for certificates to be forged.

I recommend that you take great care when sourcing products because most of the popular sourcing websites have large numbers of suppliers listed as manufacturers, who are in reality traders. Finding reliable suppliers can be done, but requires care.

      Hello Visal,

EU norms depend on the product you are trying to import.

Could you tell us what goods you are hoping to import.

Usually most legit companies in Asia have all EU norms approved.

      Hi,

The easiest way is to ask your suppliers if their products comply to CE/EN regulations or have relative certifications. So far as I know, any kind of commodities imported to EU countries should be CE certified.

      Hello,

Thank you for your replies. I would like to import the product like solar charger for mobile phone. I also found that some Chinese manufacturer also used the faked CE certificate and we will have the problem when importing. The sourcing reliable supplier is really hard work.

      Regards

Yes you should ask, but you must also bear in mind what I wrote in an earlier posts that it is quite common for certificates to be forged.

Obtain a copy of the certificate and contact the authority that provided the certificate and ask them to confirm that it is genuine.
