What are the differences between manufacturing in India and China?

I am into buying fragrances from India because they are so well made in bulk. I was just wondering if there are any other products that can be bulk purchased from India, and if there are, how do they compare to the same product if it is manufactured in China?

India is known for manufacturing a variety of products, not just fragrances. They are:

      ● Incense
      ● Leather
      ● Jewelry, especially sterling silver
      ● Textiles
      ● Handcrafts
      ● Furniture

China, on the other hand, is not so much known for making a few items, but they are more into electronics, clothing and toys. If you are looking for certain items, such as the ones mentioned above, then purchase from Indian manufacturers.

I know that China is one the top manufacturers in the world. How does India compare to that?

China is number three on the list of top manufacturing countries in the world.

      ● It overrides India in both imports and exports.
      ● The country’s ports and roads are efficient; goods can get in and out quickly.
      ● For a long time, China’s economy has been doing well.

India, on the other hand, is farther down on the list of top manufacturers, ranking it at number twelve.

      ● It is difficult to deliver goods quickly due to infrastructural problems in some areas.
      ● India’s economy is smaller than China’s.

One thing that India and China do have in common is that most of their labor force is in agriculture. India’s is sixty percent and China’s is fifty percent.

As a matter of fact, India holds many advantages over China in manufacturing.

      ● India has less rules and regulations for businesses.
      ● It is financially and economically more transparent.
      ● It has enacted a fairer tax system.

It is predicted that India will soon be more successful at manufacturing than China.

      ● It has mastered and continues to take advantage of globalization.
      ● Indians speak English as a business language, whereas not all Chinese do.
      ● It will take over low end export manufacturing.

Although China has been a manufacturing haven for a long time, India just might step up soon and take that title for itself.

Indian market's material and labor cost is cheaper than chinese now. I am doing export business, and feel big pressure in this. China is now focussing more on high-tech products, like LED, electronics etc. The Chinese industry has changed to a technology intensive industry. Because young people are not willing to do long hours of work in the factory, workers are lagging everywhere.
