Sales tax advice for underwear import USA - Calculation of importing costs

Looking to import luxury boxers (high-count cottons, possibly silks, etc). I need to know what kind of duty taxes I can expect to pay on that import. Can anybody help me?

Not a problem. Taxes on underwear are pretty straightforward, really. It varies of course, depending on the country of sale and dominant material in the manufacture. I’ll list it up below, but you’re looking at something in the range of 0% to 72%, again, depending on material and country. Check out everything I’m about to tell you about this regulation over here, http://hts.usitc.gov, at the US Harmonized Tarriff Schedule. Rates for most countries are as follows--

      ● Underwear manufactured of

      ○ Cotton:
      Free from BH,CA,CL,IL,JO,MA,MX,OM,PE,SG
      8% from AU
      8.5% from all others except
90% from Chile, Laos, or North Korea

      ○ Man-Made fibers

      Free same as Cotton underwear
      8% from AU
      16% from all others except
72% from Chile, Laos, or North Korea

      ○ Wool or Fine animal hair

      Free the same
      7.6% from AU
      8.5% all others except
54.5% from Chile, Laos, or North Korea

      ○ 70% or more silk or silk waste

      Free the same as above
      0.6% from all others, except
60% from Chile, Laos, or North Korea

Different rates for different countries are a result of various free trade agreements, preferred country status, or extra tariff penalties for various reasons (North Korea, for instance). Duty functions a percentage of the declared value of the imported goods, before shipping charges typically.
