Importing Products from China to USA - Who is Responsible for the Custom Duty Fee?

Hi everyone, this is Lucio, I just registered on Wholesale Forum. I need just one clarification: if I dropship a product from China to a client that is in, let's say, USA, who is responsible for the custom's duty fee?

Thanks in advance for your help.

      Regards,

      Lucio

      Hi Lucio,

Your customer will be responsible for it if the value exceeds the duty free threshold which varies from country to country. The shock of having to pay duty is a common cause for dissatisfaction among buyer who purchase goods from another country

Some people try to get around that by declaring on the package that it is a gift, or in some case by declaring a false, low value. Both of these things can lead to big problems for the customer, one of the worst being that Customs will flag their name and address so every future shipment is delayed for extensive checking.

I am not suggesting you would do this, but I mention it for the benefit of other readers.

Hi Lucio, we are in China. Usually the recipient party needs to pay for the custom duty fee. Hope it works for you.
