Newbie Looking for Some Help on Managing a Stock List - Tips on Automation of Stock List Update

      Hello,

I'm starting dropshipping and am currently having trouble keeping track of changing stock levels.

Currently I list around 200 items, the website I sell from have around 5000 items in stock so I have potential to list a lot of products.

I keep track of all my costs etc with an excel spreadsheet, and the problem I have is products running out of stock and me still having them listed for sale. A few times I've sold something that was out of stock.

Currently I paste in the out of stock data to my spreadsheet and manually update everything which is time consuming and messy.

The website I buy from has the stock levels available as csv/xml feed. Also they have a link where you can get a basic spreadsheet of product codes and stock levels.

Is there any way that I can automate the process of having items removed when the stock quantity drops below a set level?

I've seen there are third party programs that can do similar things, but they all seem to work off the fact that your stock levels don't change unless you make a sale, which in reality they will be constantly changing without me selling anything.

      Thank you.

      Hi Synthy,

      Welcome to Wholesale Forum

Yes it's extremely simple. Which shopping cart software are you using?

Depending on your answer, there are open source plug-ins you can use to auto-update stock levels, even for multiple xml feeds, or you can hire the services of an experienced service provider through a platform like Elance.

Once you can share more information on the software you are currently using, we will be able to guide you to the most relevant and cost effective solution.
