There are a couple of different ways you can use eBay’s blocked bidder list. You can set up a list of bidders you don’t want to be able to bid on or buy any of your listings, or you can exempt certain previously blocked buyers/bidders and allow them to bid regardless of the blocks you may have set up. Which do you need help with?

I didn’t know you could even unblock some users… In that case, I’d appreciate help with both blocking and exempting.

OK, there are a couple of different ways to block a buyer/bidder or group of buyers from bidding on whatever you’re auctioning or selling on eBay. The first way is to block by user ID:

      1. Once logged into eBay, go to your “My eBay” page.
      2. Click on the Account tab and then select “Site Preferences” which is listed under My Account.
      3. You’ll see the Sellers Preferences option, then Buyer Requirements, then click Edit.
      4. Click on the link to Block Buyers based on their User ID.
      5. Click on the link in the “To add a member to your Blocked List” box.
      6. Enter the member’s User ID in the box and click Submit.

You can block up to 5,000 different user IDs.

This next way allows you to block certain categories or specific groups of buyers or bidders. Again starting from your “My eBay” page:

      1. Click on the Account tab and then select “Site Preferences”.
      2. You’ll see the Selling Preferences option, then the Buyer Requirements section, click Edit.
      3. Once on the Buyer Requirements page you can select your options.

From here you can then apply these settings to all of your current and future listings. Once you’ve checked all your options, click on the Submit button.

Ones that make good sense. For example, you can block out:

      • Users who don’t have a PayPal account
      • Bidders/Buyers who don’t have an eBay account
      • Bidders/Buyers who have Unpaid Item strikes against them (this option even lets you select the number of strikes a user may have)
      • Buyers/Bidders located in other countries where you don’t want to ship (if you ship only domestically, this option helps prevent bidding from users registered outside the U.S.)
