Good news from eBay today - I'm a top rated seller! I know that other forum users have said being a TRS can be hard to maintain.

Congratulations on becoming a TRS! There are a few things you need to do to maintain the top rated seller position and you are doing one of the most important - prepare.

Maintain a minimum of 100 sales each year and/or $3,000 in sales
      Pay all fees when due
Maintain minimum feedback of 100 with less than 0.50% 1 or 2 ratings
Communicate with customers telling them what to expect
      Avoid out of stock issues

Just because you have the TRS badge on your page doesn't mean you will get the sale. TRSs have to think about price, shipping, product quality and hoping the customer has a happy experience.

Review your business model regularly to make sure you can meet the demands of TRS.

There are always going to be the bad apples that give you a two on shipping even if it was free. You cannot plan for that, but you can do everything to make sure it doesn't hurt you.

If you get hit by just one 1 rating then you are fine. Keep your sales up and do not forget customer service now that you have hit the big time.

Yes, I know that I need to rethink my shipping. I had an issue a few weeks ago with packages being delayed.

Even when it's due to bad weather, buyers can be upset over a shipment delay.

Not every buyer is a good buyer. Remember even if you do lose it because of a bad rating that is easier to pick up than sales. You can always get TRS again.

I hit a bad patch during the recession and didn't make my average ebay sales and no longer have TRS status. You would hope eBay would consider the economy.

The top rated seller program is based on sales in every economical environment.

Sometimes you have to change what you sell, where you sell it and who you sell it to.

When buyers know what to expect, it's easier to get higher ratings.

Don't be afraid to let them know how their negative reviews can negatively impact your standing on eBay. Maybe that way they will come to you to resolve an issue before leaving a 1 or 2.

Here is how you get good detailed seller ratings:

      • Don't keyword spam
      • Use unique, creative and detailed item description
      • Establish good communication between seller and buyer
      • Get shipments out quickly
      • Use reputable and dependable shipping service
      • Don't overcharge for postage

There are those that want to complain no matter what, but doing the above should help you avoid making the nice buyers mad.
