How can I handle bad buyers from eBay buyers abuse?

How can I protect myself from eBay buyers abuse? Some people misuse the rating system and this can affect my sells. I recently had a problem with one buyer. He sent me an email complaining about the product he received. He wanted to have a discount because the product had some scratches. I know for sure that he was just trying to pay less money on the product. I refused to offer the discount and I got a bad report. Any advice? Please help!

I’m really sorry this happened to you. Unfortunately, there are plenty of bad buyers who would do anything to save some money. However, there are a few things we can do:

      • The first step is to report the abuse to eBay. They will investigate and take the appropriate measures.
      • The buyer will receive an email from eBay with explanations regarding the feedback system. If a buyer continues to give low detailed feedback, his account will be suspended.
      • The negative feedback from the seller’s account can be removed by eBay.
      • Try to talk to the buyer. He might reconsider the negative feedback.
      • Use the Buyer Requirements option to block the buyers with a lot of unpaid products
      • Block all buyers with policy violation reports.

Thank you for your answer Randy! This helps a lot. I’ve got one more question. How can I request a revision?

You’re welcome Littleflower! I’m glad I can help. Requesting a feedback revision is really easy. If you think that a buyer left an unfair neutral or negative feedback, you should follow these simple steps:

      • Go to the feedback page from My eBay. You need to be sure that you’re right. As a seller you have a limited number of feedback revision requests. For every 1,000 feedback scores you get during one year, you will be able to ask for 5 revisions.
      • Communicate with the buyer and explain why you want him to revise his feedback.
      • If he insists on giving an unfair feedback you can always report him to the account managers from eBay.

Here is the link on eBay that discusses a way for you to revise a seller’s feedback:

      Revising a seller?s Feedback

Yeah, I dunno what they’re trying to achieve with this. I've actually had someone saying a new product was used. The funny thing is that the game I sold him was sealed.

Thanks for the awesome links Randy! You'd be surprised how often I hear that the products I sell disappear on the way to the buyers. I admit this can happen sometimes but I am pretty sure that most of them are trying to get their money back.

I think buyers should have in their profile the number of items they didn’t receive. I really like the unpaid items feature. I always block the buyers with a lot of unpaid products. For me this is a sign of alarm. If the buyer says he is not happy with the product we should ask him to send it back. I am sure he will not ask for a refund anymore.

I discovered that by adding buyer requirements to my listing I can protect myself from buyers abuse. I also use the option called Buy It Now. Buyers can buy directly using PayPal.
