It's tempting to sell on ebay, but maybe starting off with another that has lower fees/costs would be better.
I sell on both ebay and ebid, but some I know sell on several sites, even listing the same item on all and pulling the listing from the others if an item sells on one.

Ebay has changed a lot since you were selling on it last so you may find you do the same and sell on more than one venue.
If you are going to start selling on ebay, I would suggest searching any and all info on those changes, as a lot of them can have you kicked off or cost you a lot of money. There are far to many to list on here.

The alternatives are growing stronger and are now starting to pick up on sales, so it is always worth trying them out, I know ebid sales have picked up and from what I hear some of the other alternatives are seeing the same results.

If you are set on auctions then I'm afraid you will struggle, as ebid is set up for them but they don't show on goodle so do not get used much and ebay seems to be pricing them so high they are becoming less worth the trouble and now they are going to take their cut from the shipping so it can only get worse.

But some people still claim they are still doing well with ebays auctions. But most of the people I know personally or trust what they say, as well as my own view of them, is that they are not working that well.

But you will learn all that when you read more about the ebay changes.

      Hi,
This has been a really interesting read. I was wondering if anyone has any alternatives for Australia, if they've used them and had any success with them? I would be interested in looking at these, and will have a look at all mentioned. Thanks, Sarah

      Hi Sally,

I'm the co-founder of a site that has a very active craft / homemade community. Mudpool - UK online auctions and classifieds. Browse, buy and sell online on mudpool.co.uk We have no listing fees (and never will) and our success fees are very low and wont come into effect until the end of the year.

I hope you can check us out.

      Best Regards
      Corina
