I am a newbie looking at setting up my first drop shipping website, but cannot seem to find any clear guidelines as to the general implementation procedures, for integrating into a website. I have built ecommerce websites for other people, and have integrated affiliate widgets etc. What is the standard approach for drop shipping?

Is it a case of: I take debit/credit card payment for the product through my ecommerce payment system, and then manually order the goods from the wholesaler as a separate transaction? Is there an integrated way of doing this, as a single transaction with any wholesalers? From looking at there websites, it always gives the impression of being manual, with no clear procedure outlined.

I know that RSS feeds are supplied by some wholesalers, but I guess this is for display purposes only?

Any guidance would be very much appreciated.
