Im happy you know that using a dropshipper is not like walking on a bed of roses. You might have to face various challenges while dealing with dropshippers. But as youre getting equipped to deal with those challenges, it could be smooth sailing for you.

      1. The most common problem with dropshipping is that your dropshipper might not keep you updated about inventory. This could result in your customers waiting long for their items, which could impact your feedback score. The key to overcome this challenge is to keep in touch with your dropshipper in order to keep yourself updated about the stocks. In this manner, if there are any shortages, you could know about them beforehand and inform your customers about the time frame in which they can expect to get a given product.

      2. Timely delivery is very important if you want to win the heart of your buyers on eBay. But, when you use a dropshipper, there is a risk that the items may not reach your customers on time. So, before you deal with a dropshipper, ask him about the maximum time in which he would ship the items to your customers. Also, you should deal only with those dropshippers that offer tracking service so that you can track the shipments of your customers in case of delays.

      3. Quality could be a major issue when you use a dropshipper to sell items on eBay. As your dropshipper will ship items directly to your customers, you should make sure that those items are of good quality. But, it is not possible for you to check every shipment. So, the best thing is that you should order some products from the dropshipper periodically to check the quality of his products. Dont worry about what to do with those products. Just order the products that have a high demand so that sometimes you could send the merchandise directly to your customers as well.

I feel that if you’re keen on using a dropshipper, you should spend some time researching about the best dropshippers. For this, you should visit some directories to get references about the dropshippers. Once you have shortlisted a few dropshippers, read reviews about them. Check their ratings given by Better Business Bureau.

I’d recommend that you avoid using dropshippers located overseas as it would become difficult for you to address issues, if any.

Before you use a dropshipper, I’d like to acquaint you with one important fact. Most dropshippers that are advertised on the Internet are scams. Therefore, finding the right dropshipper is very crucial for the success of your business.

Avoid using a dropshipper that asks you to pay a membership fee. Often, such dropshippers don’t have a solid business model and therefore they prefer to earn some money through membership fees. Some of them even don’t dropship the items themselves but they are the agents of some dropshipping firms.

Thanks for the great tips. What if my customer claims that he has received a counterfeit item or has not received the order at all? Who will be responsible for such incidences? Who will bear the losses?

Your customer would not bother to deal with your dropshipper. He has bought the product from you and therefore would ask you to refund his money.

Id suggest that you should have a clause in agreement with your dropshipper that if there is any claim, arising out of receiving counterfeit item, from the buyer, the dropshipper will be responsible for refunds. This will not only insulate you from losses due to refunds but also ensure that the dropshipper ships original and good quality stuff to your customers.

If there are any claims due to delivery of wrong merchandise, counterfeit products, SNAD products, and delivery of damaged products, then your dropshipper is responsible for refund. But, you should not assume that the dropshipper would take the responsibility until there is a clause regarding the same in the agreement as mentioned by Maria.

Yeah, you’re right. But if a retailer misrepresents the products to increase his sales, then the dropshipper is not responsible for refund. So, you should make sure that you describe the product correctly in your listings. If you’re not clear or sure about something, you should contact your dropshipper.

yeah And also make sure that your return policy is in line with that of the dropshipper. Otherwise, your dropshipper might not take the responsibility for returns, which could affect your profits.

Not all dropshippers are comfortable with small orders. Some have minimum order conditions. However, when you sell on eBay, you get all types of buyers, the ones that want items in bulk to the ones that want just one or two pieces of an item. Therefore, you should deal with the type of dropshipper that is in position to fulfill your type of orders.
