Aren’t there any surpluses or rejects in this business. I was considering that option after I read about the fakes.

Fakes are different from surplus / rejects. First thing to remember is that if you are selling an item for what it is there is never a problem. Surplus goods can be surplus for various reasons – product defect, customer returned or just out of style. If you know the reason, then you can market the product in a way where there are no complaints.

Secondly, top end brands rarely have surpluses floating in the market. A defective Prada bad selling for half the price can seriously dent the company image. But you may strike gold in the surplus business with mid value brands like Zara, Benetton, US Navy…etc

For high value brands fakes and knock offs are more common to find.

Seems like finding a dropshipper with fake stuff is easier.

Sadly, that may be true. The fake / counterfeit market is huge and growing exponentially.
