Can I earn a good profit by drop shipping puzzles - Is this a profitable niche

I’m curious about getting into dropshipping, and I’ve got quite a bit of experience with puzzles and novelties, from helping manage a brick and mortar shop along those themes. I need to know if I can actually make a profit from dropshipping puzzles. Anybody got a thought?

Getting a profit out of drop shipping puzzles, or any enterprise, really, is a matter of what you can handle yourself. It’s good that you have previous business experience, because you really have to treat this like any other business, just one with different logistics. You also want to make doubly certain that your supplier is reliable, competent, and possessed of an infrastructure that will allow them to keep you informed of anything that could affect your relationship with your customers-- impending stock shortages, shipping issues, what have you.

Remember, you don’t get off the hook for any problems relating to product quality and shipping issues just because you never touch one box of the puzzles you’re selling. Ideally, the end consumer has no idea that the puzzles they order don’t come directly from you, and so any problems-- including wrong or shoddy items being delivered and shipping delays-- are still Your Problem.

Now, with regard to drop shipping puzzles specifically, yes, I do think you can make a good profit in that niche. I don’t specialize in puzzles in my ebay store, but I do move quite a few of them. Really, you can expect the same kind of turn around with drop shipping as you saw with the store you managed, only, you get a much broader potential audience when you work online. I would start with a narrow focus that you know for a fact will sell-- sudoku or themed jigsaws for example. Focus on that, develop your name. I’d go through a site like ebay or ebid to get started. This will allow you to focus on the actual running of your business without having to worry over much about how you’re actually going to sell the things.

Christmas is likely going to be a peak time for you, so make sure you get started and established in time to take advantage of that rush. If you have the ready capital to support it, consider giving deep discounts around your first holiday season going. At this point, getting your name established and distributed is more important than immediate profit, because it helps guarantee that your puzzle dropshipping business is going to be successful.

That was a lot of help, getting my head in the right place. I figured that, if dropshipping were a quick buck, then a lot more people would be doing it. It’s a good thing there’s still an element of effort involved, since it keeps the market at least viable, instead of being bogged down with people who don’t know what they’re doing.
