22 Feb 2013 06:11 PM #2There are a lot of possibilities both large and small companies. It really depends on what volume you will be shipping.
In my 22 years as an importer, in which my franchisees imported into four different countries, none of them ever used a shipping agent in China or the US.
Instead they all used the suppliers' preferred shippers. One reason was that the suppliers shipped large volumes on a regular basis to customers all over the world and were able to negotiate better freight deals. I know, because I checked and was never able to match their rates. The other main reason was that the suppliers had shipments going out daily with their regular freight company and this ensured the fastest possible delivery.
There are other aspects to this, including simplifying your importing procedures, and I explain that in my book.Over 150,000 Verified Sources + Deals 95% Off MSRP + Free Website! To learn safe overseas sourcing and how to buy small (or large) quantities at best prices see→ http://provenchinasourcing.comLearn to find genuine manufacturers and negotiate small orders at prices way below what wholesalers charge. 07 Mar 2013 11:32 PM #4Glad I was able to help. Just one more thing: Make sure you are told the total cost from factory to you. There will likely be inland charges in China and in the US.

You'd better go to China in person. Take a visit to local factories and custom officials to judge for yourself.

22 Mar 2013 04:21 PM #6Many small importers cannot afford to visit China, although that is a preferred option if possible.
Contacting Customs officials in person in China would be nearly impossible as is the case at home also.

It's easier to have the supplier to arrange everything on the shipping part, but I will strongly suggest to look for a freight forwarder to compare the shipping cost. Also, it's good to have full control on who you will ship with and how you can ship by appointing one freight forwarder. It's a very simple process to get a right quote for the shipping. Simply just provide the cargo information such as shipping method (via ocean or air), pickup location, port of loading, port of discharge, commodity, delivery location, weight and size of shipment. Mostly, the freight forwarder will able to get the rate to you within the same day or the day after.
If you are interested in getting a rate quote, please kindly email me: *Visible to qualifying WF members only* with the above mentioned information.
